I write this mildly terrified and exceptionally optimistic. We did it. Step one on a very long journey. We submitted our planning application.
Cam knew from the start that the planning permission part of this process was something that he wanted to learn and complete himself. He’s a carpenter, and a very good one, so his vision for what he wanted to build has always been so much clearer than mine. This allows me to take a back seat in this part of the process, while he shows me what his dream looks like.
The truth? I immediately loved the plans he put together. It feels surreal to even hope for a home that looks like this one day. But I know one thing for certain – Cam will not stop until he achieves his goal, and I will never falter in support of this either.
Now we’re looking at an 8 week wait to find out the verdict (which is actually 7 weeks from the day I am posting this). During this time nothing much is changing, we’re continuing to live with Cam’s family, both working, saving as many pennys as possible, and setting our eyes and hearts on the next chapter.
